TENPIN BOWLROCHDALE
I blogged about this place in November ,the doorway has still not been altered to allow access to and from  the disabled toilet .Whilst all other disabled facilities are good this issue just lets it down.

R.M.B.C.
Near where I live some works were done on the pavement and road over the holiday period which involved removing a dropped kerb section before relaying the tarmac. Unfortunately, they did not put
the dropped kerb back which means I cannot get to the shops as the power chair cannot climb a four inch step.I spoke to the highways dept-to no avail. My local councillor is also dealing with this problem, but as yet no result! see blog of sixth November.

JUNCTION INN DENSHAW
See November blog. This superb eating place has put a ramp outside for disabled access.Well worth a visit ,the food is first class. It would be good to think the blog is having some impact!

Now,onto other places I have recently visited----

SPRINGHILL TEA ROOMS
Our local hospice converted a disused pub into marvellous tea rooms and the proceeds benefit the hospice. The staff are amenable and the food is good (they do a great Sunday lunch) However, the issue here is parking. There are 6/7 spaces in front of the building and the land is owned by the council,so people who live opposite the premises park there and disabled customers
have to go  to the rear of the building to park and then negotiate a high pavement step before they can use the ramp.

ROCHDALE INFIRMARY
Access to the outpatients dept.is not easy if you arrive by taxi. They have to park at the top of the road to discharge passengers because the entrance is cross-hatched to allow ambulances in.This is fine in principle, but when you have no legs it is too far to walk.

EXCHANGE SHOPPING CENTRE
Above the entrance to the car park is a board showing the height restriction as 6ft 6ins. Yet,the height of my WAV is 6ft 1ins according to the manual but each time I enter ,the board scrapes the top of the car.I have reported this to the management office three times over the past 5 months.I might as well be talking to the brick wall the car park is made of !

MADISONS RESTAURANT ROCHDALE
Disabled access is not easy here, the small ramp is not very wide and it is too steep. If you want to sit in the main body of the restaurant, there are stairs and there are NO disabled toilets.

DISABLED HOLIDAYS
Finally-a positive note to end this blog. We have booked a disabled access holiday cottage through this company who specialise in this type of holiday in hotels, cottages, apartments and even caravans in the U.K. and Europe. Their staff are most helpful in meeting the requirements of the disabled traveller and I recommend them to you.

                                          --------------------------------------------
Generally,I write this blog in the hope that someone reads it and acts upon the issues raised. The DISABILITY ACT has been with us for a long time but does not seem to be having a lot of impact!
